Secondary Education LKA

In our Arafo Centre we impart the first course of Secondary:

  • First cycle: 1stE.S.O. and 2ndE.S.O. (Private).

Our main objective is for the student, by the time they finish this stage with us, has been capable of “learning how to learn”, that he has embraced that “what is learned” is as important as “how it´s learned”, since this last one provides the student with a series of aptitudes and competences as important as the actual concepts acquired over the process of teaching- learning. We promote the use of reasoning as a fundamental tool for the acquisition of knowledge. The important thing isn’t just the acquisition of instructive contents, but the using in an efficient manner their own thoughts, “learning how to think”, and knowing how to handle the right strategies for the acquisition, use and application of the information, “learning how to learn”.

We teach our students that the important thing isn’t doing things, but how they are done. Everything we do must be significant, high quality and responsible with our social and natural environment.

  • 1st ESO
    • Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 13:35 hours and from15:00 to 17:00 hours.
    • Fridays from 08:30 to 13:15 hours and from 14:00 to 15:00 hours.
  • Dinner: The students in this stage have the dinner service, as well as special diets, in the same turn as the Primary students.

We apply especially “active methods”, as we understand that real knowledge is a process of self-formation in which one ends up being the artisan of him/her-self. The student learns best when he does it personally – experimenting, observing, reflecting – through a process of auto-creativity.

Multilingual learning

At this stage we work daily with English. Moreover, continuing the trend created in Primary, we offer linguistic itineraries where the student chooses either French or German.

Technological Resources

Our program is imparted, to a large degree, in smart and audio-visual classrooms and the actual IT classroom where the students can each have their own computer. The use of own materials in the virtual campus, the working units and the self-evaluations, make operative the use of the computer in the classroom. Its capacity to store data, its plasticity when it comes to doing and redoing documents, and as a source for research and consulting, allows the students to be unconcerned about memory tasks and be able to adopt a more active role in mental processes of higher quality, making an efficient use of what is learned and transferring it to other areas of knowledge.

Secondary 1st: Initiation to sport, Robotics and Fast-Typing.

During the class-time our students also enjoy another series of activities destined to the development of their formation aside from the purely academic. At this stage of Secondary we try to offer, year after year, interesting activities which stimulate their interest for the society that surrounds them and we encourage them to go outside of the classroom to participate in them; activities in contact with nature, theatre visits, scientific, sportive and cultural talks, storytelling, themed weeks, solidary activities, visits to different organisms and institutions, etc.
